e receive many requests to reprint various materials from The Piano Education Page. The Piano Education Page in all its parts is protected by registered copyrights in the United States and most foreign countries. As such, it cannot be indiscriminately reprinted or reproduced, in whole or in part, without the risk of large fines, very large civil penalties and payment of our attorney costs for the infringement action.
However, we usually grant permission for royalty-free, limited use educational reprinting of the graphics and text from The Piano Education Page in educational, non-commercial settings, such as use for teaching purposes in a single-teacher private studio or on a personal, non-commercial web site. We also normally grant permission to companies for royalty-free reprinting of our reviews of their own products. Similarly, other sites may link The Piano Education Page without our explicit permission, though we are always happy to have other site owners notify us of links to The Piano Education Page. Authors of articles or interviews on PEP may create up to fifty (50) hard copy reprints of their article or interview royalty-free for their own personal, non-commercial use, so long as they do not charge others in any way for the reprints, make no changes to the reprinted material, and maintain The Piano Education Page copyright notice on the reprints. Authors need not request our permission to create these reprints. If an author requires more copies than 50 (e.g. to pass out to students in a teaching studio), the author should follow the steps and observe the limitations above for Educational use reprinting. Authors may not re-publish articles appearing on PEP on a web site or in any other publication without our written consent.
Electronic or print publication authors may provide a link to The Piano Education Page without requesting permission, so long as the link clearly identifies The Piano Education Page as the link destination. For web links, the PEP content must be clearly identifiable as coming from The Piano Education Page. Frame-based links which cover up or disguise the true source of the material are specifically disallowed. Although authors are not required to seek permission for linking, they may want to seek such permission as a means of making us aware of their publication.
