All topics musical, not specifically piano-related

Hi,

I would like to get your advice, if I plan to buy Metronome, what are the things need to consider ?
I also notice there are 2 types : Mechanical & Digital ? Which one is more suitable?

The metronome is for my son to practice piano at home.
He just started @ grade 1.

Thanks in advanced.

Personally, I would not buy one now.

He is young and he can clap and tap and march and count the rhythm - most important, he can listen to it.

If rhythm is a problem for him, try clapping a rhythm to a song he knows well - "Happy Birthday", "Jingle Bells", "Frere Jacques" and others and see if he can guess. Then have him clap some for you. Try to find similar rhythm patterns in different pieces, as a quarter note followed by two eights, and a dotted quarter and an eighth. Have him use his ear to find them. If he is reading music, he can then find them on the printed page.
