For those of you who have the Documentary Channel on satellite (ch. 197 on Dish) or cable, there is an excellent documentary that has been playing on Beethoven's 9th Symphony and the way it has affected thinking all over the world in diverse areas. As you might expect, the documentary has numerous performances of the Ninth, performed in many languages and by many different orchestras. There is even archival footage of Liszt at the piano. Of course, the program has a great deal of biographical information about Beethoven as well. Well worth a look and listen.
