Teaching class piano

Postby Dr. John Zeigler - PEP Ed » Mon Feb 07, 2011 12:34 pm

While the majority of teachers do so privately, we have not really talked about the challenges of teaching class piano. This is usually a far different situation than teaching privately. It probably resembles group piano more than typical private teaching, although the class teacher must also cope with rigid time limits and the "rigamarole" that we associate with working in the schools. If you are a class teacher or have been, what are the special problems that you face? What help would you like to have? How do your students compare with private students? Do you have any "tips" for others who teach class piano?
All religions, arts and sciences are branches of the same tree. All these aspirations are directed toward ennobling man's life, lifting it from the sphere of mere physical existence and leading the individual towards freedom. - Albert Einstein
